Ah the SA-300. Fisher's first stereo power amp, often considered one of their finest. The negative feedback is quite stable, it has good low frequency stability under any load, and hum and noise is kept below 1/1000th of 1% at full rated output. This remarkable example was acquired from the original owner, in a collection which also included the Fisher 400-C preamp. While the chassis shows some signs of its age, this amp has been largely recapped and is as electronically sound as any SA-300 that ever rolled off the line. Our service team didn't want to let this one go, and we suspect you won't either.

- The History of Fisher
- ... many people conflate the acquisition with the change in branding, but the trademark request was actually filed by Mr. Fisher in 1965, and held up by other concerns who felt they had the right to use the "Fisher" name. The timing was a happy accident for collectors, who could then quickly discern the age...

- Liner Notes
The new Fisher SA-300 power amplifiers feature a special filter to optionally limit the frequency response to the audible range. This prevents the possibility of transonic oscillations or "motorboating" when capacitive loads are connected, such as electrostatic loudspeakers. Although the amplifiers are sufficiently stable to perform well with such speakers, the filter serves as an added precaution against the possibility of subtle distortions produced by such oscillation.
