The Audio Research PC-1 is a passive line-level crossover designed to facilitate bi-amplification by splitting audio signals into separate frequency bands before amplification. This approach allows each amplifier to handle a specific range of frequencies, potentially enhancing overall system performance.

The PC-1 implements a first-order (6 dB per octave) high-pass filter at a crossover point of 1,000 Hz (1Khz). This design was particularly recommended by Audio Research for use with certain speaker systems, such as the Magnepan Tympani T-1, to optimize bi-amping configurations.
