This is a stunning and incredibly rare HH Scott piece. From what we can gather, this may have just been the very first quadraphonic amplifier to make it to market (launched in 1969). The walnut cabinet is gorgeous. The black face is striking and all but flawless. And the 4 VU meters are absolutely mesmerizing. This is truly a beautiful piece of audio history.

- Liner Notes
- The H H Scott 499 4-channel stereo amplifier dates from the very beginning of the quadraphonic era. It's worth owning as one of the last real HH Scott components made before HH Scott, Inc went into receivership in 1973. Schneider of Germany purchased HH Scott shortly after this amplifier was released to the market. The 499 is a top of the line component. Made in the USA, the unit is superbly engineered, and has an absolutely killer amplifier section. When it was introduced in 1969, this unit cost more than a McIntosh MA 5100 or a MAC 1700 receiver – very expensive – and few were made. A rare bird, indeed.
