Face on, the Extrema appear mid-size, but the 20-liter cabinets are massive – even deeper than they are tall. The sound is equally impressive, a culmination of everything Sonus Faber had learned in ten-plus years of loudspeaker design. The drive units are seamlessly integrated, and there is a beautiful sense of top-to-bottom cohesiveness that would put many modern high-end speakers to shame. This presentation is well-balanced, with a punch of extra richness in the midrange and lower frequencies. A presentation like this gives the sound more substance and gives the instruments and vocalists a tangible presence in our listening space.
