Vintage Mcintosh MC-2300 // Solid State Stereo Amplifier / Legendary
SOLD , now part of a Private Collection
300 watts per channel. 128 pounds. The epic McIntosh MC2300 was first made famous as the amp that powered the Grateful Dead's Wall of sound. 48 of them actually. This happens to be an especially exceptional example. The tech that worked on this piece has been working on Mac for over 45 years and has had many tens of these come across his bench. His words: "This is [electronically] the nicest 2300 I've ever worked on". Cosmetically, the face has some blemishes. From listening distance, it's magnificent though. It's currently being enjoyed in one of our personal systems, alongside an original MC275 and C22 to drive a pair of B&W Matrix 800's – a combination which sounds superlative. This beast of an amp will ship via freight only. It will be securely palletized, padded, and protected for the journey. ($600 value)
