The Altec Model Nineteen is one of our favorites for all the reasons: sound quality, sensitivity, and wide soundstage. When we acquired these, we set out to make them truly one of a kind. We refinished the cabinets in a dark walnut stain with 4 coats of satin topcoat – then defined contrast where there was none – with white powder-coated horns and accents to create a striking offset. The woofers have been completely reconed, and we rebuilt the crossovers with audiophile-grade capacitors. Rear-mounted Cardas 5-way binding posts and glossy black heavyweight casters further elevate both aesthetics and convenience, making these speakers a true masterpiece for any discerning audiophile’s space.
Custom Magnetic grilles are available upon request. But they're just so sexy without.

- Liner Notes
If you're looking for extremely low distortion, top power capacity plus extended bandwidth - look no further. The Nineteen offers all of the bandwidth advantages with none of the crossover problems found in many floor-standing three-way systems.
The result: a powerful two-way system with unequaled high-end plus commanding low-end response. The Nineteen also features a dual-range equalizer designed to allow smooth, gradual equalization, compensating for variations in room acoustics or personal listening tastes.
Its overwhelming full-range capability and response are aided by an optimally tuned, vented enclosure, the product of more exhaustive investigation, which makes the Nineteen ideal for home listeners who want studio-monitor performance and quality. And, the Nineteen's beautifully-styled oiled oak or walnut cabinet, hand-rubbed and finished on all sides, makes it an integral part of any listening environment.
