The MC275 is a legend. The most powerful of the vintage mac tubes… and arguably the most coveted. The lettering on this example appears to have followed a series of martinis, but the chassis is immaculate – not a hint of pitting. No wonder. McIntosh used stainless steel in place of chrome for this model, which is why it's also sometimes referred to as the MC275-SS. Without question, a must-have piece for any serious Mac collector.

Restoration

This MC275 MKIII is original and in perfect working order. Output power is 82 watts RMS per channel. The frequency bandwidth is 10Hz to 70kHz within 3bd as per the original spec. Frequency response is 16Hz to 24kHz within 1 db. This amplifier has had very little use in its twenty year life as is obvious from the physical newness and internal component integrity. We have replaced a few important bias electrolytic capacitors just as an aging precaution. We have also sped up the power supply with the addition of significant polypropylene capacitors in the high voltage. The original McIntosh tubes are still matched attesting to the unit's lack of use.
