BIG power. Heavy, solid amp with beautiful amber meters. Hypnotic. The 1801 was originally released as the Amp to power the 901's but has the power to push even the most thirsty of speakers. We've had a few of these in our shop, and this one is by far the cleanest. Take a look at the pics and tell us what you think.

- The History of Bose
- Bose was founded in 1964 by Amar G. Bose. Eight years earlier, Bose, then a graduate student at MIT, had purchased a stereo system and was disappointed with its performance. This led him to research the importance of reverberant (indirect) sound on perceived audio quality. Early yearsBose began extensive research aimed...

- Liner Notes
- The 1801 and 1800 are Integral Design™ Power Amplifiers with all Silicon Solid-State Circuitry using 14 power transistors per channel. Capable of complete stability with all loudspeaker loads regardless of capacitive or inductive character. They employ fast-acting electronic protection circuits for current limiting. They use computer-grade capacitors throughout the power supply, along with a 2.0kW power transformer and 1300 sq. inches of the heat sink area. They also have a power monitor display using a light-emitting diode array and in the case of the 1801 signal meters as well.
